Hansi Flick: “Lewandowski is the same as the one I met in Munich”

Robert Lewandowski showcased his remarkable form once again, netting a 25-minute hat trick in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory against Alaves on the weekend. The Polish striker has now scored five goals in his last two outings, making him the leading goalscorer across Europe’s top 5 leagues, equal on 10 goals with Erling Haaland.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was full of praise for Lewandowski, drawing parallels to their time together at Bayern Munich: “Everyone supports him and he knows exactly what to do in the box. In front of the goal, he’s the best player for me.” Flick continued, “Lewandowski is the best in the area, he’s the same as the one I met in Munich.”

Reflecting on his form, Lewandowski shared insights into the adjustments he’s made to elevate his game: “Toward the end of last season and the start of this season, I made some changes in different aspects of my training. We also have many talents in the squad, and I believe it’s my job to help them make the most of their potential.”

Beyond his contributions on the pitch, Lewandowski also spoke highly of Barcelona’s new signing and his compatriot Wojciech Szczesny: “Szczesny is a top addition for Barca. He knows exactly how to make others feel at ease and he’s great at supporting the younger players. His experience and strong personality are a real asset to the team.”
