With momentum on their side, Liverpool’s management has shifted focus to securing the futures of two of their key defenders, opening contract talks with Ibrahima Konaté and Jarell Quansah. Konaté, who has become Virgil van Dijk’s preferred partner at the heart of Liverpool’s defence, is seen as a vital part of the club’s long-term project. Talks for a new deal with Konaté are ongoing, and discussions are expected to progress soon, with the Frenchman reportedly happy to stay at Anfield.
In addition, Liverpool is also closing in on a contract extension for Jarell Quansah. Despite featuring in just one Premier League game this season, coming off the bench to replace Konaté in the first-round match against Ipswich, the 21-year-old is considered a promising talent for the future. The offer includes a pay rise, and the deal is expected to be finalized soon.
