Manchester City sneaks through to the 4th round in Carabao Cup as Guardiola wovs to find a solution to Rodri’s lengthy absence

Pep Guardiola has acknowledged the challenge that Manchester City faces following the injury to Rodri, who will be sidelined for an extended period. “When you are without the best midfielder in the world for a long time, it is a big blow” Guardiola admitted and added “But my duty is to find a solution.”

Rodri’s absence is particularly difficult given his irreplaceable role in City’s midfield, but Guardiola remains determined to adapt. The City boss recalled the challenges of last season, noting the club’s ability to cope with major injuries. “Last season, three months without Erling and five months without Kevin, and we were there and won the Premier League, despite many things” the Spanish manager added, emphasizing that City will find a way to manage the hard times.

Guardiola provided an update on Rodri’s condition, indicating that the full extent of the injury is still being assessed. “There’s some opinions that it will be less than we expect, we’re waiting for the last phone calls and the type of surgery he needs.” he explained.

Despite the setback, City continues to press forward. Last night, they secured a 2-1 victory over Watford in the Carabao Cup, with goals from Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes. Guardiola opted for a youthful lineup, giving several young and fringe players an opportunity to start. Among them was Kaden Braithwaite, who made his debut for City at 16 years of age. “It was unbelievable. I’m lost for words” Braithwaite said. On the possibility of more opportunities this season, the teenager added, “I hope so! Just keep working hard and you never know.”
