Bayern Munich made history last night by scoring a record-breaking nine goals in their opening Champions League match, setting a new high for the most goals scored in a single game. The Bavarians shattered their own previous record of eight goals, set when they famously demolished Barcelona, led by Leo Messi, back in 2020.
Bayern Munich became the first side in UEFA Champions League history to score 9+ goals in a single game.
The last team to do so in a European Cup match was Real Madrid in October 1990 (9-1 vs FC Wacker Innsbruck). pic.twitter.com/mVc9VkMtQv

This explosive performance follows a dominant weekend in the Bundesliga, where Bayern scored six goals against Holstein Kiel. Leading the charge was Harry Kane, who has been in remarkable form. The English striker has now scored seven goals and provided an assist in his last two matches for Bayern. Last night, Kane netted in the 20th, 58th, 73rd, and 78th minutes, with three coming from the penalty spot. His outstanding run has made him the highest-scoring English player in Champions League history with 33 goals. Kane has now scored 53 goals in 50 appearances for Bayern, solidifying his place as one of the club’s key players.
Contributing to Bayern’s nine-goal triumph were new signing Michael Olise, who scored twice (38′, 61′), and Raphael Guerreiro (34′), Leroy Sane (85′), and Leon Goretzka (90+2′). The victory also marked Vincent Kompany’s first-ever Champions League win, silencing early doubts about his appointment from Burnley.
Another milestone was achieved by Bayern legend Thomas Müller, who became the player with the most appearances for a single club in Champions League history, surpassing Barcelona icon Xavi Hernandez with 152 matches.
