Rodri has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the 2024 Ballon d’Or after an exceptional last season at Manchester City and a standout performance at Euro 2024 with Spain. Speaking on the possibility of winning football’s most prestigious individual award, the midfielder shared his excitement: “It’d be a dream! I’m very happy for everything that’s happened to me in the last years, winning what City won and winning the Euros with my country is just a dream. It’s a consequence of hard work, consistency, and never giving up.”

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Rodri has made it clear that his focus remains firmly with Manchester City. “I have three more years at Man City, and when I signed the contract, I didn’t think of other teams. So, I have three more years at Man City, and nothing more to say!” he stated, quashing any rumors about a potential departure.
Rodri recently returned to full fitness after sustaining an injury during Spain’s Euro 2024 final victory over England. Since then, he has featured in only one game for Manchester City this season but is expected to play a key role in the team’s upcoming matches.
Tonight, Manchester City kick off their Champions League journey with a home game against Inter, a repeat of the 2023 final, where City triumphed. If Rodri returns to his best form, there’s no doubt that the Spanish midfielder will be at the Ballon d’Or gala on 28 October 2024 in Paris, as one of the leading favourites for the prestigious award.
