Alisson happy for Chiesa but discontent with increased number of games ahead of Milan clash

Liverpool prepares to face AC Milan in the first round of the Champions League tonight, as the match brings back memories of their famous final encounters in 2005 and 2007. The two clubs met in Istanbul, where Liverpool triumphed in what is widely regarded as one of the greatest finals of all time, and two years later in Athens, when Milan exacted their revenge.

Ahead of the match, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson shared his thoughts on new teammate Federico Chiesa, who recently joined the club. “Federico Chiesa is already showing his quality in training” the goalkeeper said. “But what makes me happiest is seeing his smile. From the moment he joined Liverpool, he’s been smiling, and it’s clear he’s grateful for this new opportunity at a top club.”

Alisson also touched on the new Champions League format, expressing concerns about the increasing number of games. While he acknowledged that the format may be exciting for fans, he pointed out that players are rarely asked for their opinions. “For the supporters, amazing. But sometimes nobody asks the players what they think about adding more games” he noted. He reiterated the need for a solution to the growing demands on players, emphasizing that fatigue can affect performance. “All the people responsible for organising the calendar need to sit together and listen to all the parts, including the players. You can’t just add competitions and add games. If you’re tired, you can’t compete at a high level.”
