Carvajal defends Vinicius after 0-2 win, Ancelotti praises the squad

Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Real Sociedad on Saturday, with goals from Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe. Both players found the net from the penalty spot after the half-time break, helping Los Blancos claim three important points on the road.

Following the match, the club captain Dani Carvajal defended Vinicius Junior’s post-goal celebration, which had sparked reactions from the crowd. “Vini’s celebration against Real Sociedad? Completely understandable” Carvajal said. “We heard a lot of insults against him in the stadium. My message is clear, as Spain or Real Madrid’s captain, zero tolerance against racism.” Carvajal also addressed his future with the club, leaving his contract situation open-ended. “New contract at Real Madrid? The club decides. I accept everything. No problem. I want to stay here as long as possible but the day I am not Real Madrid’s level, I will leave” he stated.

Carlo Ancelotti also voiced strong support for Vinicius Junior amid ongoing racist incidents directed at the player in stadiums. “Stop paying attention to Vinicius and pay more attention to what happens in these stadiums” the manager said, calling for more focus on the issues surrounding these incidents rather than the player’s reactions.

Real Madrid’s manager shared updates on player availability, with both Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouameni returning from injury and ready for action. “The problem is just the calendar. That’s it” Ancelotti remarked, referring to the tight fixture schedule. Despite the challenges, Ancelotti expressed confidence in the squad, saying, “We have lost important players like Kroos, Nacho, and Joselu, but the best player in the world has arrived, or one of the best players. We have a better squad this season, yes.”
