Arne Slot with a chance to rewrite Premier League history, remains tight-lipped on contract extensions for key players

Arne Slotaddressed several topics in the lead-up to Liverpool’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. When asked about the status of contracts for players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Slot responded with his characteristic straightforwardness. “Boring answer again but we don’t talk about contracts here” the Dutch manager said, adding “I am fully focused on the team to work with them to get the best possible out of them.”

Slot also touched on the situation with goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who recently expressed a desire for more playing time. Slot responded humorously, saying, “Kelleher said he wants to leave? I would be worried if a player came out and said he loved it on the bench and wants to stay there for the rest of his life!”

Slot’s impact as Jurgen Klopp’s successor has been nothing short of remarkable. He became only the third manager in Premier League history to win his first three matches while keeping clean sheets, joining the ranks of legendary coaches like Sven-Goran Eriksson and Jose Mourinho. Looking ahead, Slot has the chance to make history on Saturday when Liverpool hosts Nottingham Forest. If Liverpool wins without conceding, Slot would become the first Premier League manager to win his first four games without letting in a single goal.

When asked about the availability of new signing Federico Chiesa for Saturday, Slot was cautious, explaining, “He trained 3-4 times. He will train again today. We will see and make a decision. I have to pick a squad of 20 players, I will pick the fittest.”
