Barcelona has announced that midfielder Marc Bernal successfully underwent surgery today after suffering an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus of the left knee. The operation, performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau under the supervision of the club’s medical staff, went smoothly. However, the expected recovery period for Bernal will be 12 months, sidelining the player for the entire season.

On a more positive note, Ansu Fati has made positive progress in his recovery as he completed part of the team’s workout today. The young forward has been working his way back from injury that has slowed his integration back in the team after a year-long loan spell at Brighton.
Fati spent the 2023/24 season on loan with the Seagulls, where he contributed 8 goals and 5 assists in all competitions, helping the Premier League club secure European qualification. The loan was intended to give Fati more game time and help him regain form after a series of injuries had disrupted his progress at Barcelona.
Despite being only 21, Fati has already achieved notable milestones, including becoming the youngest goalscorer in Barcelona’s history at just 16, before Lamine Yamal broke the record later. Fati’s return to training brings hope that he can recover fully and resume his development as one of Europe’s top young players.
