RB Salzburg are in advanced talks to sign Stefan Bajčetić on loan from Liverpool, with negotiations reaching their final stages. The deal is being closely monitored, with only a few details left to be clarified. Pep Lijnders, who recently took over as Salzburg’s head coach after leaving Liverpool with Jürgen Klopp, is keen to bring Bajčetić to the Austrian club.
🚨 Stefan Bajcetić’s father: “We didn't expect Barça to enter the race… we have all ready to go to Salzburg. But we still don't have any info on what's gonna happen".
“I'd like Stefan to play for a top club like Barça or same Liverpool, he’s ready for top clubs”, told RAC1. pic.twitter.com/quy1nXGbtj

Barcelona had also shown interest in Bajčetić, but they are currently unable to proceed with the deal due to Financial Fair Play issues. The proposed deal for Barcelona was a straightforward loan with a €4 million fee and no buy option, meaning Bajčetić would return to Liverpool next July. However, due to their financial constraints, Barcelona are unable to finalize the transfer, leaving the path clear for Salzburg.
The player’s father expressed surprise at Barcelona’s interest, mentioning that they were all set to go to Salzburg but are still waiting for more information. He added that he would love to see Stefan play for a top club like Barcelona, as he believes his son is ready for such opportunities.
Salzburg is expecting Bajčetić to travel today to complete the move, as long as there are no last-minute changes. The Austrian club is keen to secure the midfielder and integrate him into their squad for the upcoming season, under the leadership of Lijnders. Should no changes occur, Salzburg hope to complete the loan transfer and add Bajčetić to their squad.
