Kieran Trippier seeks Newcastle exit, as Everton eyes loan deal for the defender

Kieran Trippier is looking to leave Newcastle United before the transfer window closes, according to David Ornstein. The 33-year-old England international was a starter in all of the Three Lions’ matches at Euro 2024, but he has fallen out of favour at Newcastle under manager Eddie Howe. Another reason behind Trippier’s decision might be his recent loss of the captain’s armband, with Bruno Guimarаes being chosen to lead the Magpies this season.

Trippier remained on the bench during Newcastle’s narrow Premier League victory over Southampton in the first round, as Howe opted to bring on defenders Lloyd Kelly and Emil Krafth instead. Trippier, who has two years remaining on his contract and is one of the highest-paid players at the club, is eager to maximize his playing time, prompting his desire to leave. Last winter, Newcastle reportedly rejected a £13 million offer from Bayern Munich for the right-back.

Everton has emerged as a potential destination, with the club currently in talks with the Magpies to explore a loan move for Trippier. Everton’s interest in the experienced right-back is strong, especially given manager Sean Dyche’s admiration for the player. Dyche has previously stated in 2021, “I’ve always made it clear that I don’t do favourites, apart from Kieran Trippier. I always tell everyone that and make sure they’re aware, he’s always been my favourite, he’s the one I don’t deny!”
