Hearing for Manchester City’s 115 alleged Premier League breaches set to begin in September

The hearing regarding Manchester City’s 115 alleged breaches of Premier League rules is set to begin next month, with the outcome expected in early 2025, report The Times. The charges, covering a period from 2009 to 2018, include accusations of financial misconduct, such as inflating sponsorship deals, failing to provide accurate financial information, and not cooperating with the league’s investigation.

This case follows a separate UEFA investigation that led to a two-year European ban and a €30 million fine for City in 2020, later overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Premier League continued its investigation, resulting in these new charges.

If found guilty, Manchester City could face severe penalties. Last season, both Nottingham Forest and Everton suffered points deductions due to minor financial fair play infringements, highlighting the potential consequences City could face. The club has denied any wrongdoing and is preparing a strong defence, accusing the Premier League of mishandling the case.

The hearing is expected to be lengthy and complex, with both sides presenting detailed evidence. The outcome of this case could have significant implications for Manchester City and the broader landscape of English football, depending on the final verdict.
