Laporta’s ultimatum to Nico Williams: Now or never

Joan Laporta has made it clear that Barcelona’s transfer market activity will not conclude with the signing of Dani Olmo. Laporta has issued an ultimatum to Nico Williams, stating that if he does not commit to joining Barcelona now, the club will move on to other targets.

There is a wave of renewed optimism in Barcelona regarding Nico Williams’ potential move. According to reports, he is closer to saying yes than no. FC Barcelona had reopened contacts with Williams’ camp yesterday, reviving the transfer saga that had seemed to be cooling off.

Popular Spanish insider Gerard Romero added fuel to the speculation, suggesting that the deal might be closer than anticipated. “Do I think that the whole stadium could chant Nico’s name during the Gamper on Monday? Maybe there won’t be the need to wait until Monday” Romero hinted. Barcelona face Ligue 1 side Monaco on Monday for the annual exhbition match branded as Juan Gamper Trophy which preceeds the start of the LaLiga season.

Williams’ decision is eagerly awaited by the Barcelona faithful, as the club looks to bolster its squad ahead of the new season. With Dani Olmo already secured, the potential addition of Nico Williams would further strengthen Barcelona’s attacking options. Meanwhile, the player in question has returned to training with Athletic Bilbao. “I’m back, looking forward to this season… Come on Athletic,” he said.

The next few days will be crucial in determining whether Williams will don the Blaugrana shirt or if Barcelona will be forced to explore alternative targets.
