Manchester United’s midfielder search: Youssouf Fofana in focus as Ugarte talks stall

Manchester United have initiated talks with Monaco over the potential signing of midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The club is exploring the conditions under which they could secure the services of the 25-year-old French international. Fofana was expected to move to Serie A with AC Milan, but the latest reports suggest that the negotiations between the clubs have stalled.

Meanwhile, Fulham are not expected to bid again for Scott McTominay, having already seen their second £20+ million offer rejected. McTominay’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as Fulham has decided to step back from their pursuit.

In a related development, despite PSG’s interest in Jadon Sancho, Manchester United have yet to receive an official bid from the Parisian club. Discussions have taken place regarding the conditions of a potential deal, with Sancho open to a move and personal terms not expected to be an issue. However, nothing advanced has materialized so far.

Additionally, Manchester United’s pursuit of Manuel Ugarte remains complicated. The Uruguayan midfielder, who made 98 tackles in just 25 Ligue 1 games last season – more than any Manchester United midfielder in the past 18 seasons – is keen on joining the Red Devils. Despite this, there is still a significant gap in the transfer fee expectations between PSG and Manchester United, though the clubs remain in contact.
