Atalanta engages in negotiations for Retegui, club offered numerous players to replace injured Scammaca

Atalanta are in urgent pursuit of a new striker after Gianluca Scamacca suffered a severe injury, including a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, meniscus, and collateral ligament. The exact recovery timeline for Scamacca is currently unknown, but it is clear that Atalanta must act quickly to fill the void.

To address the pressing need, the club have submitted a formal bid for Genoa’s Italian international Mateo Retegui, aiming to secure the forward as Scamacca’s replacement. Negotiations are actively underway to finalize the deal. In addition to Retegui, Atalanta have been linked with several other potential signings, including Juventus forward Arkadiusz Milik, Everton’s Beto, and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial. Reports also suggest that Napoli have offered Giovanni Simeone to Atalanta following Scammaca’s injury.

In the midst of these transfer activities, Atalanta have sold right-back Hans Hateboer to Rennes for €2 million, with the Dutchman signing a contract until June 2026. The club is also expected to part ways with Teun Koopmeiners soon, as Juventus has shown strong interest in the midfielder. Negotiations are reportedly progressing, and a deal could be finalized in the coming days. On the other hand, Atalanta have completed the signing of Nicolo Zaniolo from Galatasaray.

Atalanta, who won the Europa League last season, will face Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final next Wednesday. The club’s management is working tirelessly to ensure they have a competitive squad ready for the crucial fixture and the upcoming season.
