Alexis Sanchez and Udinese near a reunion

Alexis Sanchez, at 35, is close to making a return to Udinese. According to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, unless there are any late surprises, Sanchez has made his choice to rejoin the Italian club. The Chilian first made a name for himself at Udinese, where he played from 2008 to 2011, scoring 21 goals and providing 20 assists in 121 appearances. His performances caught the attention of bigger clubs, leading to a move to Barcelona.

At Barcelona, Sanchez enjoyed huge success, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League. After three years in Spain, he moved to the Premier League, joining Arsenal in 2014. During his time with the Gunners, the Chilian forward became one of the league’s top players, winning two FA Cups and the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award in 2015. In 2018, he moved to Manchester United but struggled to replicate his previous form. This led to a move to Inter, where he won Serie A in the 2020-2021 and 2023/24 seasons.

Alexis has had an illustrious international career with Chile. He played a key role in their victories in the Copa America editions of 2015 and 2016. Sánchez has also represented Chile in multiple World Cups and holds the records for most matches and most goals with the national team. He has played in a total of 166 games for his country, scoring 50 goals.

Sanchez’s potential return to Udinese will mark a full-circle moment in his professional career, bringing him back to the club where he first made his name in European football.
