Bayer and Bayern navigate through complex Jonathan Tah deal

Manchester United’s pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt hinges on Bayern Munich’s willingness to lower their £50m asking price. Should Bayern agree to sell De Ligt, it would unlock a series of defensive moves between numerous clubs, also involving Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

An agreement is reportedly close between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen for Jonathan Tah, with a fee in the region of £25m. However, this deal relies on Bayern finalizing De Ligt’s transfer to Manchester United. Only then will Bayern move to secure the German international defender from Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen are preparing for Tah’s departure by targeting Joël Matip as his replacement. Matip, a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired in July, is in positive talks with Leverkusen over a contract that could run until at least 2026. Matip will bring a valuable experience to the table, having spent seven seasons in the Bundesliga with Schalke before his stint at Liverpool.
