Real Sociedad signs Luca Sucic, eyes Soler to replace Arsenal-bound Merino

Real Sociedad is gearing up for their upcoming Champions League campaign by making moves in the transfer market. To raise funds, the club is expected to part ways with some of their key players, with Euro 2024 winner Mikel Merino’s potential transfer to Arsenal being a prime example.

Arsenal is closing in on a deal for the midfielder, with a verbal agreement nearing completion. Merino has agreed to personal terms and is keen on the move. Discussions with Real Sociedad are focused on a package exceeding €30 million, aiming to finalize the transfer soon.

In response, Real Sociedad is actively working to strengthen their squad. They are in advanced talks to sign former Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain as Merino’s replacement. Negotiations are ongoing over personal terms with Soler, indicating that there is mutual interest.

On top of that, Real Sociedad has already secured an agreement to sign Luka Sucić from RB Salzburg. Sucić is set to travel to Spain with his agents to undergo medical tests, marking another significant signing for the club.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay addressed rumors about Take Kubo’s potential move to the Premier League. He confirmed that no negotiations have taken place with any club so far and expressed confidence that Kubo will remain in San Sebastian. Aperribay acknowledged the interest in Kubo but shared that no serious discussions have occurred yet, although the transfer market remains open.
