Injuries threaten to halt Manchester United’s pre-season preparations

Manchester United’s pre-season preparations are facing serious setbacks due to multiple injuries. Marcus Rashford is the latest victim, suffering health issues after the Red Devils’ recent friendly game against Real Betis. Official confirmation from the club states that Leny Yoro will be out for three months with a foot injury, while Rasmus Højlund is sidelined for six weeks due to a hamstring problem.

Rashford, who played up front in the match against Betis, was taken off in the 62nd minute after going down in pain. Before his substitution, Rashford scored a goal and provided an assist for Casemiro, contributing significantly to the team’s 3-2 victory. The other goals were scored by Amad Diallo and Casemiro. Antony entered the field as a substitute in the 62nd minute but remained only for 25 minute before being replaced after limping off.

The injuries are a major concern for manager Erik ten Hag, as Leny Yoro and Rasmus Højlund sustained their injuries in a pre-season clash with Arsenal. With Yoro expected to be out for three months, Højlund for six weeks, and now the potential Rashford and Antony injuries, the squad’s depth will be tested in the upcoming fixtures. The Red Devils have one friendly left on their US tour, against Liverpool, and their first competitive match of the 2024/25 season is on 10th of August against Manchester City for the FA Community Shield trophy.

Manchester United fans and management will anxiously await further updates on Rashford’s condition, hoping the injury isn’t severe and won’t sideline another key player as the team gears up for the new season.
