Arsenal to turn to Merino after finalizing Calafiori and Smith-Rowe transfers

Fulham and Arsenal are set to finalize the transfer of Emile Smith-Rowe, with all documents in place and ready to be signed after the player’s medical tests. The deal is valued at £27 million plus £7 million in add-ons, marking a significant move for both clubs. Smith-Rowe, a product of Arsenal’s academy, has made a total of 115 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 18 goals and providing 15 assists. Last season, he played only 475 minutes across 19 matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are in talks with Real Sociedad for the transfer of Mikel Merino. The midfielder has expressed his willingness to join the Londoners on a contract until 2028. Negotiations between the Gunners and the Spanish club are expected to intensify in the coming days as they work towards reaching an agreement. Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta appreciates Merino’s abilities, but he is not the only name being considered for strengthening the midfield. The price that Real Sociedad will demand will be crucial in determining the outcome of this potential transfer.

Additionally, Arsenal recently completed the signing of Riccardo Calafiori, and once Smith-Rowe’s move to Fulham materializes, the Gunners will engage in negotiations with Real Sociedad for Merino.
