Barcelona introduces Hansi Flick: Insights from the presentation

During the official presentation of Hansi Flick as the new manager of Barcelona, club president Joan Laporta shared his thoughts and expectations. He stated, “Hansi Flick is the best person for this new drive and to deal with the most immediate challenges.” Such endorsement sets the tone for Flick’s tenure, highlighting the club’s confidence in the German’s leadership.

Flick expressed his commitment to the club’s winning tradition: “Barça always want to win trophies and that is why I’m here. We have to give everything on the pitch.”

Commenting on player performances and injuries, Flick noted, “Ansu Fati had a great impact, I was very happy with him. Now he’s injured, but we will wait for him to come back stronger, for sure.” This reflects Flick’s patience and belief in the potential of his players.

When asked about potential transfers and player contracts, Flick maintained professionalism. Regarding Nico Williams, he said, “He’s not our player. Nico Williams is under contract with another club, and I can’t say anything.” On Sergi Roberto, Flick was clear: “He’s NOT Barça player, as things stand. Sergi is not expected to sign a new deal at Barça after my arrival and is already exploring other options.”

Flick also shared high praise for young talent Lamine Yamal, stating, “He is developing at an exceptional level. He’s a good kid and must not rush things. I watched his Euro performance, and it was incredible. Great players must work continuously, keeping their feet on the ground. He will bring us a lot.”
