The Premier League club is aiming to secure Kanté’s services for around €24 million, with negotiations progressing. Kanté, who joined Al Ittihad in the summer of 2023, is currently on a €25 million per season contract until 2027. This four-year, €100 million total fixed package also includes commercial deals and image rights.
Kanté has two years left on his contract with Al Ittihad. His previous stint in the Premier League was highly successful, having won the league title with both Leicester City and Chelsea. The Frenchman was a crucial part of Leicester’s miraculous 2015-16 Premier League title win and continued to excel at Chelsea, where he added another league title, a Champions League, and several other domestic trophies to his resume.
West Ham’s interest in Kanté shows their ambition to strengthen the squad with experienced and high-caliber players. Kanté’s return to the Premier League would undoubtedly be a significant boost for the Hammers, given his proven track record and exceptional midfield capabilities. The coming weeks will reveal whether West Ham can overcome the financial hurdles to secure such a marquee signing.
