Cavan Sullivan debuts in MLS at the age of 14, breaks Freddy Adu’s record

At just 14 years and 293 days old, Cavan Sullivan has made history by debuting for the Philadelphia Union, becoming the youngest player ever to play in Major League Soccer (MLS). This record-breaking appearance took place when Sullivan entered the match against New England Revolution in the 85th minute, surpassing the previous record held by Freddy Adu, who debuted at 14 years and 306 days old.

Sullivan’s debut is not only a milestone for MLS but also a significant moment in the history of North American professional sports. He is now the youngest player to debut among all the major North American professional sports leagues, which include MLS, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NWSL.

The young prodigy’s journey has already caught the attention of international scouts. Manchester City has signed Sullivan for the future, with an agreement in place for him to join the club when he turns 18. The deal with Philadelphia Union includes a fee close to $1 million plus various add-ons, securing the American wonderkid’s path to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Cavan Sullivan’s debut not only sets a new benchmark in MLS but also will serve as inspiration for young athletes across North America, proving that age is no barrier in professional sports.
