Brighton signs Minteh, new manager Hurzeler eyes multiple signings to bolster Seagulls squad

Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton’s new manager, has wasted no time in reshaping the squad following the conclusion of the 2023/24 Premier League season. Hurzeler has taken the reins from Roberto De Zerbi and is actively pursuing several key targets to bolster the Seagulls’ squad. The German specialist is familiar with the Premier League, having stated, “I watched almost every game, from Brighton to Arsenal to Man City.”

The Seagulls recently had a £30 million bid for Georginio Rutter rejected by Leeds United. Despite the setback, the club remains active in the transfer market, having successfully signed Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle. Minteh, who was acquired for a fee exceeding £30 million signed a contract running until June 2029.

The club is currently eyeing numerous players, including Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton. Brighton faces stiff competition for the defender, with West Ham also keen on securing his services and potentially including Flynn Downes in a swap deal. Tottenham Hotspur has shown interest in Walker-Peters, recognizing that he fits their requirements, although no formal bids or talks have taken place yet.

In addition to Walker-Peters, Brighton has started negotiations with Mats Wieffer’s agents. Wieffer, currently at Feyenoord, is on Brighton’s shortlist and has also attracted interest from AC Milan. Hurzeler has given his approval for Wieffer, and the club is now waiting to advance discussions with Feyenoord.
