Manchester United and Bayern Munich in talks over Matthijs de Ligt transfer

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are currently negotiating a potential permanent deal for Dutch international defender Matthijs de Ligt. Reports indicate that de Ligt is keen to join Manchester United and reunite with Erik ten Hag, his former coach at Ajax.

Rafaela Pimenta, de Ligt’s agent, is actively working on finding a top solution for her client. De Ligt has received a five-year contract proposal from Manchester United, which would keep him at the club until 2029. Discussions between de Ligt’s management and Manchester United are ongoing, and an agreement is expected soon.

De Ligt and ten Hag have a notable history together. In February 2019, at the age of 19 years and 186 days, de Ligt captained Ajax against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, becoming the youngest player to lead any team in a Champions League knockout match.
