Barcelona send offer for Nico Williams, keep watching Dani Olmo

Barcelona are targeting Spanish internationals Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, both currently representing Spain at Euro 2024. However, financial constraints make it challenging for the club to secure both players.

Barcelona have offered Athletic Bilbao a total of €65 million paid in installments plus Inigo Martinez for Nico Williams. The winger’s release clause is set at €58 million, but Barca would be forced to pay it all at once. Despite Chelsea’s decision not to pursue Williams, it remains to be seen if the Basque side will accept Barca’s offer.

Nico Williams was selected as the player of the match in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Italy and sat out La Furia’s latest game against Albania. In that match, Dani Olmo provided an assist, his fifth in a major tournament since 2020. Barca’s sporting director Deco was seen monitoring the player closely from the stands in that game. Olmo, who has a similar to Williams’ €60 million release clause, has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and Bayern Munich.

Barcelona’s financial difficulties, coupled with their desire to strengthen the squad, make it unlikely they can secure both Williams and Olmo. However, their interest in these players highlights the Catalan giants’ ambition to rebuild and compete at the highest level.
