Benfica face Italian competition in their transfer plans for Gosens and Pavlidis

Benfica are making significant strides in the transfer market, currently leading the race to sign Vangelis Pavlidis from AZ Alkmaar. The Portuguese giants have submitted an initial proposal of €17 million plus €2 million in add-ons for the Greek striker. Italian clubs have shown interest in Pavlidis, but Benfica remain confident in securing his signature. Reports suggest that Pavlidis is keen on the move but is waiting for more details to be clarified in the coming days.

In addition to their pursuit of Pavlidis, Benfica is also working on a deal for Robin Gosens. After a loan with a buy option proposal from Bologna was rejected, Benfica has turned their attention to Union Berlin. The Portuguese club has asked for the deal conditions from Union Berlin and is set to engage in further talks soon. Bologna may present a new bid in the next few days, but Benfica are determined to bolster their squad with the German left-back.

Such moves indicate Benfica’s intent to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season, aiming to compete both domestically and in European competitions. With Pavlidis and Gosens potentially joining the Eagles’ ranks, Benfica’s line-up could see significant changes in both attack and defence.
