Mavs win Western Conference Finals, Luka Doncic named MVP

Dallas Mavericks emerged victorious from their visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves for game 5 of NBA Western Conference Finals, winning with the score of 124-103 to finish the series 4-1. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving scored 36 points apiece to lead Dallas to its first appearance in NBA Finals since 2011. The Slovenian, who was awarded the Magic Johnson award for Western Conference Finals MVP, scored 20 points in the 1st quarter to set the pace for the Mavs and passed the torch to Irving in the 2nd half, with Dallas’ lead reaching 36 points at one point.

Minnesota’s star duo Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns finished the game with 29 and 26 points respectively, but they were the only players of the Wolves roster to score double-digits points. Naz Reid in particular had an off night, shooting 2/10 from the field and 0/4 for 3 points.

The NBA Finals begin on June 6th, with TD Garden in Boston hosting the opening game. There Dallas will chase its 2nd title, while the Celtics will try and secure their 18th NBA championship.
