Chelsea and Enzo Maresca have reached an agreement which will see the Italian take over the reigns at Stamford Bridge. The 44 year old Italian just led Leicester City to the title in Championship, and the Foxes will be playing Premier League football next season. The agreement between Chelsea and Maresca is now finalized on a contract valid until June 2029, with a five-year deal. The deal includes an option to extend until June 2030, and as part of the agreement, Londoners are set to pay a compensation fee to Leicester City.

Maresca became head coach of Leicester last summer after spending a season with Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant. Under his leadership, the Foxes won 31 out of 46 matches in England’s 2nd tier, and finished top of the standings, after collecting 97 points throughout the season. During his managerial career, besides Leicester, Maresca has led only Parma for a brief spell of 14 matches between May and November 2021.
