Atletico Madrid has decided not to renew the expiring contract of Memphis Depay. This will make the Netherlands international a free agent in July and he will be able to pick the next chapter of his career. In his time in the Spanish capital, the player has featured in 40 games with a return of 13 goals and 2 assists. Depay joined Atletico from Barcelona in January, 2023, in a €3 million deal. Prior to becoming part of Barca, the forward has represented his home club PSV, Manchester United, and Lyon.

Memphis has made 90 appearances for the Netherlands senior team, scoring 90 goals and providing 44 assists. He has been called by manager Ronald Koeman to the Euro 2024 Netherlands squad and is expected to play a key role in the Oranje’s team quest for glory.
