Haaland’s brace and Ortega’s heroics put Manchester City one win away from the Premier League title

Manchester City recorded an extremely important 0:2 victory when visiting Tottenham in a postponed match of Premier League’s 34th round on Tuesday night. Erling Haaland scored both goals for Pep Guardiola’s team to put the Citizens back on top of the league standings with just one game remaining of the 2023/24 campaign. The Norwegian scoring machine hit his 1st goal in the 40th minute after Kevin De Bruyne sent a cross inside the six-yard box and Haaland had the easiest of tasks just to tap the ball in the empty net.

Tottenham missed few glorious chances to score, particularly through Heung-Min Son, who missed a one-on-one chance against Manchester City’s goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. It was Ederson, who began in City’s goal but he received an injury after clashing with Christian Romero. Ortega entered the pitch in the 69th minute to save the day and help his team regain the top spot in the Premier League standings. Erling Haaland scored his 2nd goal of the game and 27th of the season in stoppage time from the penalty spot.

The final game of the Premier League season is on Saturday, when Manchester City take on West Ham at the Etihad Stadium. A victory will see the club win its fourth consecutive title, something never achieved in the history of the English top-flight.
