Barcelona recorded 2:0 home victory against Real Sociedad in a game of LaLiga’s 35th round on Monday. The 16 year old prodigy Lamine Yamal opened the score in the 40th minute and Brazilian winger Raphinha hit another goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time to hand Barcelona an important win in the battle for the 2nd place in the standings. With the 3 points the Catalan giants have now collected a total of 76 throughout the season. They regained the 2nd spot, moving one point ahead of Girona and six ahead of Atletico Madrid with 3 games remaining of the 2023/24 LaLiga campaign.

In his post-match press conference, Barcelona’s manager Xavi Hernandez spoke highly of Lamine Yamal. The former midfielder highlighted that even though the youngster is not yet perfect on tactical level, Yamal’s decision making has been beyond his tender age. Xavi expressed his satisfaction with the improvement his young player has achieved this season.
In 2023/24, Lamine Yamal has recorded 47 matches in all tournaments for Barca, with a return of 7 goals and 9 assists. He is strongly expected to find a place in Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 which begins in less than a month time.
