Inter makes Nicolo Barella the highest paid Italian in Serie A

Italian champions Inter have already began planning for next season, agreeing to extend the contract of key midfielder Nicolo Barella to 2029. The terms of the new, improved deal will make Barella the highest paid Italian player in Serie A. With the salary set at €6.5 million after taxes, and with different included bonusses, Barella will easily pocket over €7 million per season. His current contract runs to 2026 with a salary of €5 million. The lucrative contract will make the playmaker the highest-paid Italian in Serie A, surpassing his Inter teammate Alessandro Bastoni, who currently earns an annual salary of €5.5 million.

This season Barella has featured in 45 matches across all tournaments for Inter, scoring 2 goals and providing 7 assists. In the coming days, Inter are expected to announce new deals for manager Simone Inzaghi and striker and captain Lautaro Martinez in an attempt to keep all the key pieces of the Serie A title winning squad.
