Borussia Dortmund awaits Real Madrid or Bayern in Champions League final

Kylian Mbappe’s dream of lifting the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain is over. Parisians with Mbappe in the line-up lost 0:1 to Borussia Dortmund in the return leg of their semi-finals battle at Parc des Princes on Tuesday night. The only goal of the match was scored by Borussia’s veteran central defender Matts Hummels in the 50th minute after heading Julian Brandt’s perfectly executed corner kick.

As for Mbappe and PSG they might consider themselves extremely unlucky, having hit the bars of BVB’s goal on four separate occasions. Warren Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes, Kylian Mbappe, and Vitinha went very close to scoring after the half-time break but were all denied by the woodwork. PSG had the ball for 67% of the time and attempted 31 shots, but only 5 were on target. In comparison, the German team finished the encounter with 6 attempts on goal, 3 on target and the only goal of the match.

Borussia Dortmund now awaits the outcome of the other semi-finals clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich who meet tonight at Santiago Bernabeu in the Spanish capital. Nothing separates both sides after the first meeting as it ended in 2:2 draw.
