Casemiro reflects on Real Madrid’s victory over City and reveals his final moments with Los Blancos

Manchester United’s midfielder Casemiro has shared his reaction to watching his former team triumph over Manchester City. Real Madrid eliminated United’s cross-town rivals in the Champions League’s quarter-finals on penalties on Wednesday night. “I suffered watching Real Madrid against City, I’m a big Real fan!” the former Los Blancos player confessed.

The Brazilian midfielder also talked about the circumstances regarding his €70 million transfer to Manchester United in the summer of 2022. Despite the club’s president Florentino Pérez, being reluctant to let him leave, Casemiro felt it was time for a new challenge. “When talks were at final stages with Man United on personal terms, Florentino Pérez did not want me to leave. He didn’t want to talk to me about leaving Real Madrid. I had to talk to other people at the club!” the 32 year old Selecao star revealed during an interview with Chiringuito.

One of the most heartfelt moments came when Casemiro discussed his final engagements with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. “When everything was done with Man United, I entered Ancelotti’s office… he started crying” Casemiro shared. The player also revealed the only moment he doubted whether moving to United was the right decision. It arose after Ancelotti told him, “Case, I don’t know… I just want you to know that I love you! I didn’t want you to leave.”

Now at Manchester United, the midfielder continues to follow how his friends in Madrid are doing and cheers for them. Despite leaving the Spanish capital, Casemiro’s legacy at Real Madrid is marked by immense success, having won every possible trophy in club football with Los Blancos.
