Philadelphia 76ers clinch 7th seed, Chicago and Miami to battle it out for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Miami Heat 105:104 in their play-in game at Wells Fargo Center to clinch the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference. Last season’s MVP Joel Embiid led the Sixers, concluding with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds, while also registering 5 assists. Embiid was heavily aided by Nicolas Batum who ended as Philly’s 2nd best scorer on the night, with 20 points from the bench, shotting 6-from-10 from deep. For the Heat, Tyler Hero dropped 25 points, but his shooting was ineffective, making just 9 of his 27 field goals and hitting 4 of 14 attempts for 3-pts.

In the other play-in game for the night, Chicago Bulls won 131:116 against the Atlanta Hawks to secure a meeting with the Heat for the last playoff spot in the East. Coby White enjoyed a great game and finished with a career-high 42 points for the Bulls, while Nikola Vucevic and DeMar DeRozan added 24 and 22, respectively. The Hawks had 4 of their starting players ending the match with 20 or more points, with Dejounte Murray being the team’s highest scorer with 30 points.
