Cole Palmer and Chelsea destroy Everton 6:0 at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino furious

Chelsea have reduced the gap to the 6th position in the Premier League with a comprehensive 6:0 victory against Everton on Monday. The Blues are now just 3 points behind Newcastle and with a game in hand. The game at Stamford Bridge turned out to be an easy one for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, as Chelsea opened the scoring on 13 minutes through Cole Palmer, and went for the break at 4:0 with the former Manchester City player scoring a hat-trick before the half-hour mark.

The Toffees were no match for Chelsea, and the Londoners were decided to make things interesting by having an onflied spat when awarded a penalty halfway in the 2nd period. Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson were the most active in trying to get the ball, despite Malo Gusto and the experienced Thiago Silva attempting to calm them down. In the end Cole Palmer executed the penalty which resulted in his 4th goal on the night. There were still time for youngster Alfie Gilchrist to put his name on the score sheet with a 90th minute strike.

Talking to the press post-game, Pochettino expressed his disappointment at what was seen “Next time they’re all out. It’s not a joke”. The Argentine specialist went on by saying, “It’s impossible after a performance like this to have this behaviour. We have to learn a lot if we want to be a great team”.
