Viktor Gyokeres to follow if Amorim leaves Sporting

The agent of Viktor Gyokeres has admitted that it will be difficult for the Swedish striker to remain in Lisbon if Sporting’s manager Ruben Amorim leaves the club in the summer. Hasan Cetinkaya additionally reveals that Gyokeres joined Sporting last summer only because of Amorim, turning down numerous financally better proposals. The agent’s words come after yesterday it was revealed that Amorim has verbally agreed to replace Jurgen Klopp at the helm of Liverpool in the summer.

Gyokeres has wasted no time in adjusting to life in Portugal, scoring 36 goals and providing 15 assists in 42 appearances across all tournaments during his maiden season with Sporting. He was bought for €21 million from Coventry and has quickly become the most feared striker in Liga Portugal. With his performances, Gyokeres has helped Sporting to be 4 points ahead of Benfica with a game in hand at the top of the league standings. The Swede has a €100 million release clause inserted into his current contract, running to 2028.

Arsenal have been linked recently with the striker, but any interested clubs should move fast, as Gyokeres most probably be part of the Sweden team at Euro 2024, where his price might sky-rocket after a couple of good performances.
