In an interview with Le Parisien, French football legend Thierry Henry has shared his admiration for Kylian Mbappe, stating that the young forward has already surpassed his own achievements. “Mbappe overtaking me? He has surpassed it, it’s already done! Kylian is already in the future” said Henry, highlighting Mbappe’s exceptional contributions to French football and his role as a global ambassador for the sport.

“He has already overtaken me! It’s already done. Kylian is already in the future and that’s good anyway because he’s our football and we need this guy who represents us everywhere. Kylian is extraordinary. He’s mad.” 👏🇫🇷 pic.twitter.com/R5wtBoxuw2

Henry, whose performances on the international stage and in club football have cemented his legacy as one of the game’s greats, expressed his excitement about Mbappe’s impact on the future of French football. “And that’s good, by the way, because it’s France, it’s our football and we have to have a guy who represents us everywhere” he added.
However, Henry didn’t stop at praising Mbappe. He also singled out Antoine Griezmann, whom he considers one of the most underrated players in the world. Despite the focus often falling on Mbappe, Henry believes that Griezmann’s contributions are equally worthy of acclaim. “Kylian is extraordinary, he’s crazy! But do not forget Griezmann, who reminds you that working is a talent. Griezmann is by far the most underrated player that exists” Henry said.
He pointed to the Atletico Madrid’s forward versatility, work ethic, and ability to influence the game in multiple roles. “Often, we talk about Kylian, so rightly so… but Griezmann. Look at his passes and goals. Tell me who in history could well play the four offensive positions like him? There are not many… Grizou is one of them!” Henry concluded, urging fans and pundits alike to appreciate Griezmann’s talents.
Euro 2024, starting in June, is a big chance for Mbappe and Griezmann to lead France to the tournament’s gold medals. If they win it, they will match Thierry Henry’s achievements with the French national team: winning both the World Cup and the European Championship.
