Grosso’s brief stint at Lyon between September and November 2023 saw the team struggling to find form, with a record of only one win, two draws, and four losses out of seven matches. His tenure at Lyon was also marked by a stressful episode which saw the team’s bus attacked with stones en route to a match in Marseille, resulting in injuries, including to Grosso himself.
Before his time with Lyon, the Italian had managerial spells with a variety of clubs, including Bari, Verona, Brescia, Sion, and Frosinone. During his playing days, Grosso was a left-back who played a key role in Italy’s 2006 World Cup triumph, writing his name in the annals of Italian football history. Grosso has been without a club since the 30th of November when Lyon decided to fire him after a 0:2 home loss at the hands of Lille.
