Thibaut Courtois suffers another injury

Thibaut Courtois has suffered a right knee meniscus rupture. This injury comes after his recovery from an ACL injury in his left knee, putting him out of action for the next two months and likely ending his season. Courtois commented on his new injury, saying: “I’m sad for this new injury but it’s just a small setback. I will be back stronger than ever” and acknowledged the support from fans: “I feel your support.”

Real Madrid announced that Courtois got injured during training yesterday. Since joining Los Blancos from Chelsea in 2018 for €35 million, Courtois has won a Champions League and two LaLiga titles with the team. He has not played a single minute throughout the 2023/24 campaign as the Belgian international goalkeeper tore his ACL in August, just before the season’s start.

Courtois’s recent injury also casts doubt on his availability for Belgium in Euro 2024. With recovery and match fitness to consider, his chances of representing his country in the tournament are becoming increasingly uncertain.
