Boston Celtics clinch early playoff spot with a win against the Suns

The Boston Celtics defeated the Phoenix Suns 127-112 on Thursday, marking their 2nd victory in a week against the same opponent. Following their win, the Celtics officially became the first team to secure their spot in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Jaylen Brown was the best for his team, dropping 37 points, leading Boston towards victory. Jayson Tatum was not far behind, scoring 26 points and dishing out 5 assists, while veteran Al Horford added 24 points, including six 3-pointers. As a whole, the Celtics ended the night making 47/89 field goals and shooting 25/50 from beyond the arc. On the other hand, four of the Phoenix Suns’ starters finished the game with 20+ points, namely Booker, Beal, Durant, and Allen, but it turned out not enough for the win.

Boston is now guaranteed a finish within the top 6 in the Eastern Conference, successfully avoiding the play-in tournament. This will present coach Joe Mazzulla the opportunity to rotate his roster, allowing his star players extended rest periods before the crucial part of the season begins.
