Chelsea’s interest in Nico Williams remains as the club continues to monitor the Athletic Bilbao winger. The Londoners’ pursuit of Williams began last summer, but back then Cole Palmer was their top target. After securing his signature in August, Chelsea’s attention turns back on Williams now, with the club well aware of a €50m release clause inserted in his contract and still keenly follows his progress.

The 21-year-old left winger has spent his entire professional career at Athletic Bilbao, playing alongside his older brother, Inaki Williams. With a market value of €50 million according to Transfermarkt, Nico’s talent is obvious and has already caught the eyes of several Premier League clubs, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano.
A product of Athletic Bilbao’s youth academy, Williams has recorded 112 games for the Basque senior team across all competitions, contributing 18 goals and 18 assists. His impressive performances at the club level led to his debut for the Spanish national team in September 2022, and he has since earned 11 caps. It is interesting to note that while Nico Williams plays for Spain, his brother Inaki represents Ghana internationally. This is because the siblings were born to Ghanaian parents who migrated to Spain, so they could choose between two different national allegiances.
