Kylian Mbappe’s double sends PSG to the Champions League quarter-finals

Kylian Mbappé once again proved why he’s considered one of the best footballers in the world. The French forward scored both goals in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2:1 away victory in the return leg of their Champions League 1/8 finals clash, securing their place in the quarter-finals.

Mbappé has been in exceptional form this season, now with 34 goals in 34 games across all competitions. Speaking after the match, the French forward shared: “I always want to play and do my best in the Champions League. I just try my best.”

Amidst speculation about his future and his relationship with PSG’s coach Luis Enrique, Mbappé stated: “Luis Enrique? It’s all very good with him. Great relationship, no issues. People can think differently about it, but really, all is very good.”

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi praised both Mbappé and Luis Enrique, highlighting the autonomy given to the coach regarding technical and tactical choices. “The coach is the one who decides, we are behind him” Al Khelaifi said. Despite rumors of Mbappé’s potential departure, Al Khelaifi remained tight-lipped, “I can’t confirm Kylian Mbappé’s departure. It’s always the club communicating our stuff. He’s under contract here, but we are building something for the future.”
