Jude Bellingham nominated for the Laureus World Breaktrhough of the year

Real Madrid’s midfielder Jude Bellingham has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year award. Among the other contenders for the prize are Bellingham’s colleague from Real Madrid’s Women’s team – the Colombian Linda Caicedo, the Spanish female footballer Salma Paralluelo (Barcelona Femeni), the American tennis player Coco Gauff, the United Kingdom’s athlete Josh Kerr, and the Chinese swimmer Qin Haiyang.

In his debut season in Madrid, Bellingham has featured in 29 matches in all competitions, where he has scored 20 goals and provided 8 assists. The Englishman scored 10 goals in his first 10 games, while also scoring in each of his La Liga, Champions League, and El Clasico debuts for Real. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has missed the last two games for Los Blancos, recovering from an injury. Bellingham is expected to be in the squad for the visit to Valencia at the weekend, but whether he will be ready to play remains to be seen.

The 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Madrid on April 22nd, where the accolades will be presented at a gala event.
