Luke Shaw, Manchester United’s left-back, is potentially out for the remainder of the season due to a significant hamstring injury. During United’s recent 2-1 Premier League victory at Luton, the 28-year-old England international was forced to leave the field just before half-time. With Euro 2024 on the horizon, Shaw now faces a battle against time to regain fitness and secure a place in the Three Lions squad. On Wednesday, Manchester United issued a statement regarding Shaw’s condition: “Luke Shaw has sustained a muscle injury and will be out for an extended period. While further assessment is needed to pinpoint the severity, we anticipate his absence to extend over several months.”

Adding to United’s injury troubles, Shaw’s situation marks him as the latest addition to a growing list of sidelined players. Currently, the Red Devils’ unavailable players include Lisandro Martinez, out for two months; Tyrell Malacia, with an undisclosed status; and both Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan Bissaka, who are still on the mend.
The concern over Shaw’s health is his history with injuries at Manchester United. He has missed a staggering 214 official matches due to various injuries, averaging around 23 games per season on the sidelines.
