Last week, CIES, the football observatory, published a report of the 10 footballers with the highest market value in the world right now. Jude Bellingham comes on top with a valuation of €268 million, with Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior rounding up the top 3 and separated only by a million.
One might wonder why Kylian Mbappe’s name is missing, but there is a good reason for his omission from the list. The Frenchman’s contract expires in less than six months time and currently he can negotiate and sign with any team in the world for free.

Another interesting observation is that Martin Odegaard is the oldest player within the top 10, having turned 25 years of age less than a month ago on 17th of December. On the other hand, Barcelona’s Pablo Gavi is yet to turn 20 and is the only teenager in the ranking, while Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala are the other two footballers yet to celebrate their 21st birthdays.
