Mohamed Salah reaches a historic Premier League milestone in Liverpool’s win over Newcastle

Mohamed Salah scored twice and provided an assist in Liverpool’s 4:2 against Newcastle on the 1st day of 2024. The Egyptian has now scored 150 Premier League goals for Liverpool, becoming only the 5th player in history to achieve that feat for a single club after Harry Kane (Tottenham), Sergio Aguero (Manchester City), Thierry Henry (Arsenal) and Wayne Rooney (Manhcester United).

Salah achieved that just before his departure for the African Cup of Nations which begins on 13th of January. In an interview after the win on Monday, the winger expressed his optimism regarding Liverpool’s chances of lifting the Premier League title in May, saying: “We believe too much. We have top talents. They just have to work hard.”

Salah and Egypt’s first match at the African Cup of Nations is scheduled for 14th of January against Mozambique. The winger made his senior debut in 2011, one year after the Pharaohs latest Afcon triumph and is eager to finally win the tournament, after two defeats in the final game of the competition – in 2017 and 2021.
